Recent researches have found that gum diseases (periodontal infection) are linked to many systemic diseases, including diabetes, heart diseases, strokes and oral cancers, etc. Gum diseases, by nature, are infection of the tooth-supporting tissues, including alveolar bone, periodontal ligaments and gingival tissue (gum).
